After a long, long labour Rachel gave birth to baby Grace on Saturday 9:37am - weighing a good 7lbs 9oz. Richard called the news through, whilst Julia and I were in Tescos and I was buying new glasses - so all the opticians shared in the news! Julia and I were buzzing all day and promptly checked with Richard if it was ok to pop down for a visit on Sunday - which it was!

After a bite to eat with my Mum and Dad we headed off to the hospital in Basingstoke - quite an eye opener for Julia and I as it brings everything to life! Both Rachel and Richard looked great and were beaming ear to ear! Baby Grace was quiet for the whole hour after being passed round from person to person. Mind you, I still have a fear of dropping the baby! - so my turn wasn’t very long, but I guessing the comfortability factor comes with practise / experience!

Ross began work on the nursery at the weekend. Just after we moved into the house, we painted the room blue, which seemed like a very good idea at the time! But as we don’t know if Baby Davey is a boy or a girl we thought we’d best paint it a more neutral colour. This weekend, Ross painted over the blue with a white undercoat, and next weekend he’ll be painting it the new neutral colour, whilst I’m at work (boo hiss).
I, apparently, get in the way when Ross is decorating so made myself scarce and went shopping! Well, a girls got to do what a girls got to do. Things for Baby Davey are slowly but surely getting ticked off the list, so by the time he makes his grand entrance into the world, we should be ready!

I went to see the midwife for a checkup yesterday. All is well, Baby Davey is growing at the right rate, and I heard his heartbeat again. It was strong and regular, which is always good news! I’ve got to go back in 4 weeks to have some more blood taken. Hopefully they won’t have to take the two armfuls they did last time!
